The Diaries of Patricia and Tobias. Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Our 4th trip together to Japan, we finally get to Jimbocho, Tokyo (book city).  There must be 500 book stores here!  Who said: “books are out of date.” Not in Japan, not ever!
At our third stop, Isseido Booksellers, we find ancient scrolls and folding books.

She really knows!  One of the reasons I fell in love with her. On my online profile I mentioned that I am a Sapiophile.  She’s the only one who mentioned it. When she did ... it was a green flag.  She’s the one I’ve been looking for.  She asked an Isseido Book Store employee about a good coffee house, he walked us out the door down the street, one left, then a quick right to Sa Bouru.  Make sure you include this great coffee house on your book city itinerary.

Meantime, Patricia answers Jim Reed (my long time college friend from 1972) when he asks: “What is the difference between Wabi Sabi and Shabui?”

And later she introduces him to Isetan’s Food Floor in the Basement.  One full square block of global gourmet gastronomical delights... judging by his smile he’s found a selection. If it was warmer, we’d take our gourmet “picnic” to the 7th floor rooftop garden.

Chucky (Charles Thomas, CEO of Outward Bound Adventures) arrived in Asuka Village for his first Home Stay. Ask him about it when you meet him on Friday or at the wedding
More details soon!

Megumi taught me (among the encyclopedia of knowledge that she’s shared with me) that when it comes to Kimonos and Yukatas, the patterns vary: men’s patterns are geometric, women’s are designed with nature in mind, , floral, etc.
