Tip # 7 Ryokans are Japanese Style Traditional Inns found throughout the country especially in hot springs areas. "Ryokans are a special and relaxing experience that everyone should take the opportunity to try." They make most memorable the feeling, the essence of Japan.
As a Japan Fulbright scholar, the Japan Fulbright Memorial fund organized our journey. A ryokan stay was saved to our last night on my first trip to Japan. I believe this was done to leave us with the sweetest memories of our journey. I'd recommend the same for you, your last night in Japan should be a ryokan night.
KYOTO
We stayed at Hiragana Ryokan while we were in Kyoto. It was such a charming inn. We were checked in by the owner (who was in her 90's who still came to work! In the future, we would not stay in a different ryokan, this traditional inn set the bar too high.
TOKYO: Patricia found this beautiful Tokyo Ryokan close to the Shinto Temple site for our Wedding Celebration.
We knew this Ryokan would be a perfect stay for our wedding. It exceeded our expectations, so we recommend it to you in a heartbeat!
If the tiny rooms at the APA Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower are too small for you... rooms in this ryokan are spacious. Last look, rooms at Takemine start at around $256 per night (April, 2019).
We knew this Ryokan would be a perfect stay for our wedding. It exceeded our expectations, so we recommend it to you in a heartbeat!
